4. Mission San Xavier del Bac

Mission San Xavier Del Bac
The mission is a historic Spanish Catholic mission on the Tohono O'odham Nation San Xavier Indian Reservation south of downtown Tucson. In 1692, the mission was founded by Jesuits. Over 200,000 people visit the mission each year.

The walls and vaulted ceilings of the chapel are covered in intricately painted and carved religious imagery. Behind the altar, carved wooden statues of Saint Xavier and the Virgin Mary are set into a molded backdrop. The church gift shop and museum are open daily.

Indoor rock climbing for novice to seasoned climbers is available at Rocks & Ropes, a 15,000 square foot facility in downtown Tucson. If it is your first time climbing, Rocks and Ropes provides hands-on training for beginners. You'll go through a quick safety lesson in which you'll learn how to fasten a belt, tie a figure-8 knot, and belay.

The gym has all of the required equipment, including the climbing harness and rock shoes. The walls are numbered from easiest to toughest. When using the auto-belayed walls, a climber does not need a partner. Climbers will put their balance, stability, and strength to the test!
